UPCYCLED: This basket is made from a worn out organic cotton HEKNE dress. Instead of ending up in the trash or in the nature, the dress has been given a new life.
The basket is crocheted tightly and stands firmly. Use it to store brushes, toiletries, toys, sewing items or other small things.
Handmade in Norway by us.
Would you like to crochet your own basket from a worn out garment? Cut the garment into 1-2 cm wide strips and as long as possible. You can cut the ends narrower, so that the fabric doesn't become bulky where you have to join the strips by laying the ends on top of each other.
Use a thick crochet hook and make a few chain stitches. Place the stitches together to create a small circle. Crochet around and around using double crochets.
Shape the basket as you like: Skip stitches or crochet one in each stitch to allow the shape to curve, crochet two or more in each stitch for it to remain flat (if the new stitch is perpendicular to the one under, the shape continues flat. If the stitch leans backwards or forward, the curve will form inwards or outwards).
Use anything from worn out bed linen to t-shirts and underwear to create your own unique basket.
