100% mechanically recycled yarn made from 95% wool, 5% other fibers (see why in the product description). Spun by Filatures du Parc in France and knitted by Sheentex in Mauritius.

Maintenance
We recommend that you avoid washing your wool sweater. This will preserve the wool's natural properties and softness much longer, and extend the life of the garment. Try airing the sweater instead, outside or inside. Leave it for at least a day to neutralize odors. Try to remove stains without washing the entire garment. If you must wash the entire garment: Dry clean or gentle machine wash on a wool program with wool detergent or by hand, max 30 degrees. Use fabric softener with lanolin for this sweater, as this yarn is drier than new yarn. Shape the garment carefully while it is wet. Dry flat.

The yarn is made from collected materials that are sorted by similar shades and have not been dyed again until spun a second time. The color shades create a beautiful melange yarn, with subtle shades of other colors.
The care label says 95% wool. This is because the manufacturer cannot guarantee that there will be no errors when the materials are sorted manually. However, the yarn should only contain wool.
The sweater is knitted "fully fashioned". This means that the different parts of the sweater are knitted in their final shape - instead of being cut out of a larger knitted piece - which results in neater seams and no excess scraps.
The story of the garment
Our blue tit sweater is one of our most popular sweaters, but we had no idea it would be that way when it was created!
When we started HEKNE, we used birds as inspiration and a common denominator to gather our garments into one large collection. The garments were only colored after different birds, except for a children's sweater that had a clear bird motif. After a while, someone asked for an adult version of the little blue tit sweater. We smiled a little at the idea, but as the requests didn't stop, we realized that we should actually try it out.
Although the world of birds eventually disappeared from our concept, the birds remained thanks to this unexpected bestseller.
We always have a clear idea of what we want to create, but are also open to input and coincidences that happen along the way. This is often how our very best designs come to life!
