The sweater is made by skilled craftsmen in Italy and is knitted "fully fashioned". This means that the various parts of the sweater are knitted in their final shape - instead of being cut out of a larger knitted piece - which results in neater, more elastic and comfortable seams, and no excess scraps.

The yarn is dyed and spun just 10 kilometers away from the knitwear factory.

The story of the garment

Our blue tit sweater is one of our most popular sweaters, but we had no idea it would be that way when it was created.

When we started HEKNE, we used birds as inspiration and a common denominator to gather our garments into one large collection. The garments were only colored after different birds, except for a children's sweater that had a clear bird motif. After a while, someone asked for an adult version of the little blue tit sweater. We smiled a little at the idea, but as the requests didn't stop, we realized that we should actually try it out.

Although the world of birds eventually disappeared from our concept, the birds remained thanks to this unexpected bestseller. Which we are very happy about - because with our little birds come so many beautiful stories, about symbolism that means something to us, about people we love and who they remind us of, and about how important it is to take care of the fragile and beautiful in the world around us.

The blue tit is found in most areas of Europe and Western Asia, and is easily recognizable by its blue and yellow plumage.

It is not normally a migratory bird, but in cold areas it likes to move closer to civilization in the winter to make it easier to find food. The bird lives in forest areas with deciduous trees.

The blue tit is only 12 centimeters long and weighs 11 grams, and is a very agile little bird. When it searches for food, it can hang from almost anywhere - upside down, and sometimes only by one foot.

We recommend that you avoid washing your wool sweater. This will preserve the wool's natural properties and softness much longer, and extend the life of the garment. Try airing the sweater instead, outdoor or indoor. Leave it for at least a day to neutralize odors. Try to remove stains without washing the entire garment. If you must wash the entire garment: Dry clean or gentle machine wash on a wool program with wool detergent or by hand, max 30 degrees. Stretch to shape the garment carefully while it is wet. Dry flat.
