This basket is made from a worn-out HEKNE dress in organic cotton jersey. Instead of ending up in the trash, the dress has been given a new life.

The basket is tightly crocheted and stands steady. Use it to store brushes, toiletries, toys, sewing supplies or other small items.

Would you like to crochet your own basket from a worn-out garment?

Cut the garment into 1-2 cm wide strips, as long as possible. You can cut the ends narrower so that the fabric does not become lumpy where you will join the strips by placing the ends on top of each other.

Use a thick crochet hook and make a few chain stitches. Join the stitches together to make a small circle. Crochet around and around with single crochets.

Shape the curve as you like: Skip stitches or crochet one new one in each stitch to let the shape curve, crochet two or more in each stitch to make it flat (if the new stitch is perpendicular to the one below, the shape continues flat. If the stitch leans back or forward, the curve will form inward or outward).

Use everything from worn-out bedding to t-shirts and dresses to create your own unique basket.
